Vintage Huichol Hand Beaded 8" Traditional Gourd Bowl - Indigenous Mexican Art. Dimensions: 8" diameter, about 3" tall. Dried, hardened skins of squash or similar plants are coated with a mixture of beeswax and pine pitch. Tiny seed beads are placed individually, using a needle to place each one with precision. Artists use a technique with beads pressed into beeswax on the bowl. Incredibly detailed motifs. Note: not perfectly symmetrical!
