Missions and Outreach: Living Out Our Faith

At Lake Magdalene Church, we believe that missions and outreach are not just activities we do—they are at the very heart of what it means to follow Jesus. Scripture reminds us over and over that God’s people are called to go, serve, and love. Jesus Himself said, “Go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19), and He also told us, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” (Matthew 25:40).

Missions and outreach are biblical because they reflect God’s mission for the world. From Genesis to Revelation, we see God’s heart for all people to know Him and experience His love. The early church grew because believers shared the gospel, cared for the poor, and lived out their faith in community. When we engage in missions and outreach, we are joining God in His work of transformation—locally, nationally, and globally.

But missions are not only about what we do for others. They are also about what God does in us. Serving outside of our comfort zones helps us grow spiritually. It deepens our compassion, builds humility, strengthens our prayer life, and reminds us of our dependence on God. Every time we step into a mission opportunity, whether it’s feeding the hungry, supporting children through Compassion International, or serving on a trip, we allow God to shape our hearts more into the likeness of Christ.

Here at Lake Magdalene, there are many ways to get involved. You can participate in local outreach days, join a mission trip team, support our ministry partners, or serve in ongoing ministries right here in Tampa. No matter your age, schedule, or experience, there is a place for you to live out your faith through missions.

We invite you to take your next step in missions and outreach. As a church family, we exist to share the love of Jesus with all people and lead them into a life forever changed in Christ. And one of the most powerful ways we do that is by stepping out to serve.

When is our next church-wide service day? Well, I’m glad you asked! October 18th. Mark your calendars and look for additional information in the coming weeks.

If you’d like to learn more or find where you can get connected, visit our Missions page on the church website or reach out to our missions’ team. Together, let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and beyond.
