How Missions Change the Heart of a Christ Follower — and a Call to Action for Lake Magdalene Church
Missions have a unique way of transforming the heart of every Christ follower. When we step outside our routines and comfort zones to serve others in Jesus’ name, we begin to see the world—and our faith—through God’s eyes.
Missions deepen compassion. As we encounter people in need—whether across the globe or right here in Tampa—we begin to carry their burdens and joys in our hearts. Our prayers become more urgent, our love more active, and our faith more alive.
Missions sharpen our understanding of the Gospel. When we share the hope of Jesus with others, we’re reminded of the hope we’ve received. We realize the Good News isn’t something to keep to ourselves—it’s a gift to be given away.
Missions grow humility. In serving others, we realize just how much we need God. We rely on His strength, not our own. We listen more than we speak. We stop asking, “What do I have to offer?” and start asking, “Lord, how do You want to use me?”
At Lake Magdalene Church, we believe missions is not a program—it’s who we’re called to be as Christ followers. Whether it’s packing meals, serving locally, praying for missionaries, supporting a mission partner, or going on a trip, everyone has a role in God’s mission.
So we invite you: Take a step. Get involved. Be a part of what God is doing in the world. Not only will lives be changed through your service—but your own heart will be changed, too.
Let’s be those workers. Let’s be the Church on mission.
